Arch, Chuppah or Moon Gate?

Are you looking for a focal point for your wedding? Something that will frame you and your soon-to-be-spouse as you stand before family and friends? In this blog I will highlight a few options to consider that will showcase your special day.

Chuppah

The chuppah is a bridal canopy customarily used in Jewish wedding ceremonies. This chuppah is a temporary structure and has religious symbolism. The covering of the canopy itself can be made from a prayer shawl, family tablecloth or even be new and custom made. The sky is the limit on the canopy. The décor for the chuppah can be as simple or as elaborate as one desires. I would recommend a chuppah desire and décor that fits your wedding aesthetic. For a natural or outdoorsy wedding ceremony, birch poles would look great with flowers and/or greenery that reflects the ambiance of both you and your spouse-to-be and your wedding day.

Moon Gate

A moon Gate is a terrific statement piece. It really has that WOW feel to it! It is a large, round or nearly round arch that can stand 10’ high in the center. As this piece is so grand, it would probably best suited for those with a substantial flower budget. The moon gate can be covered with greenery, flowers or a combination of both. Whichever is chosen, this is an impressive focal point and will be on the pricier side. Sooo beautiful though and a real statement piece.

Arch

The arch is probably the most modest of the focal points mentioned. This can be rounded, straight, wide, narrow, minimalist or elaborate. Gauzy fabrics can be draped over and within the arch to soften and give that dreamy, romantic feel. Decorating the arch can be as simple as the soft fabric or flowers and greenery can be added. This too can cover the arch or be placed in key areas to provide color and beauty. If a straight cross-beamed arch is used, a singular piece placed on the cross-beam would be pretty and not occluded by the bridal couple. Alternately, flowers placed at the juncture of the posts of the arch would be nice as well. For the arch with a rounded top, placing flowers on the sides is especially nice. Or the flowers and/or greenery can be placed all around the arch emphasizing the beauty of the curves.

As you can see, it really depends on what you want and what best fits into your flower budget. Your floral designer will be able to help you determine which best fits your wedding vision and budget. Happy planning!!
