So last week I wrote about having a wedding at Fayette Church of the Nazarene in the traditional dark red and green. This post I thought I would go a little non-traditional with a hint of vintage and rustic.
The popular colors for weddings the last several years has been blush. This look is a winter take on the wedding trend.
We are taking the softer, more muted tones of sage green and pinks for this wedding. Using pink poinsettia, pink shimmer roses, green eryngium, mistletoe, dusty miller, curly willow, various eucalyptus, silver brunia, orchids, hellebores, gomphrena and/or buplerum would be make for lovely bouquets and arrangements with so much movement and texture!
Perhaps creating a focal point of an arch or arbor using elements of birch, curly willow, evergreens, pine cones and eucalyptuses will a textural, outdoorsy, vintage feel too. What a lovely organic frame point this would be for you and your spouse-to-be! And your bridal party.
Follow down into the planters the some of the same elements as are in the arch – evergreens, curly willow, eucalyptuses and pine cones. Maybe accent with some pink poinsettia, roses, dusty miller, eryngium, hellebores, mistletoe, and gomphrena but I think I might just leave the planters. This would allow the bouquets to really stand out in photographs.
The aisle could be lined with greenery and flower wreaths every third pew or so. This would make the processional so pretty! Accenting with flameless candles would add a soft romantic touch as well. I will admit I fell in love with this holder from the Jolly Christmas Shop!
Filmy, flowy, chiffon dresses in a soft sage green color, perhaps with a bit of sparkle on them to catch the candlelight, would look so lovely on the bridesmaids. Pair with a soft cream cashmere shawl or wrap for warmth. (We have been known to have some mighty cold temperatures here in northwest Ohio, colder than the North Pole sometimes!) The gentlemen wearing sage green paisley or tapestry (or other tone on tone pattern) vest and tie with a black or gray tuxedo.
The bride, of course, should have a fur stole or if wearing a love sleeved dress, a warm cream colored full-length cape trimmed with fur. Luxurious, decadent, vintage and warm! A win-win!
The sky really is the limit. Just thinking about this makes me want to dive-in and bring these creations to life! I love all the texture and movements in this. The vintage feel and symbolism (like that of the wreath) is right up my alley. So YUMMY!
