Several years ago, I did wedding flowers for a sweet couple. They had a lovely story; it was my joy to share in their special day. They had a simple romantic ceremony at St Martin Lutheran Church, the oldest congregation in Archbold, Ohio.
The bride and groom (whom I’ll call Kay and Rich) celebrated their wedding close to Valentine’s Day. It was a sunny, albeit very cold day. I believe the wind chills were around -2o F. The bride selected a vintage palette of dark red/burgundy and antique white. The couple had their daughters as their attendants; they wore black street length dresses of their choice for the ceremony. Kay chose a lovely wedding suit in ivory.
Kay‘s top request was dark red roses, so I selected the black baccara rose. A decadent maroon rose with darker color edging the petals. Other flowers in the arrangements were antique hydrangea, seeded eucalyptus and dark red hypericum berries. The bride provided a deluxe diamond patterned ribbon to wrap around the bouquet handles. The bouquets were round arrangements, traditional in style and perfect for this close wedding with family and friends.
We also did a beautiful altar arrangement in a gorgeous crystal vase supplied by the bride. This arrangement consisted of the antique hydrangeas, black baccara roses, hypericum berries and seeded eucalyptus.
The bride selected a gorgeous three tier wedding cake and it too was decorated with fresh flowers and greenery. Simple, romantic, classic and elegant.
